Quick Trip to Utah

The girls and I decided to make a rush trip to Utah this week. The girls have been having a great time playing with cousins and helping Grandma can peaches. They helped grandma make some cookies too. The weather here is fabulous--just right. I wish my camera had batteries so I could take some pics.

The girls were also excited to stop at Matt's sisters house and see the brand new baby puppies. Of course they think they want one....I guess we will see. They also got to help Matt's dad cut down they huge tree in the front yard. Mostly they watched it come down and then picked up the branches. They also played at Nanna's house with cousin Jeffery and watched Matt's mom can homemade salsa. The girls love to be with Matt's family and especially the dogs.

It is always nice to see family. Of course the girls are so excited to get back to see thier dad and go to school--well, not the school part.

Balloon-a-pollooza (minus the balloons)

Saturday was the Balloon a Pollooza put on the by the city. It is fun to go and see the balloon glow at night. Too bad they thought it was too windy and so there were no balloons a glowing. However, that did not stop us from a fun night. The girls walked around with Matt and went on 1 ride and then there was a band playing and fireworks. Here are the girls and Matt before the show. This picture is out of place but I didn't want to go back and reload pictures. This guy was a little tipsy and while I was up near the stage. I moved away because he looked like he was about to blow a few chunks...I just had to get a picture though.
Meg before the show in her stroller. We brought some glow sticks and she was a dancing fool with the glow sticks later on in the night.
Mattison and Isabel
Melissa and I decided that we would head up to the mosh pit while the band Everclear
was playing. We took a few pics and this is one that I took while trying to get in the band in the background. You can tell I'm not a good photog because there is no band in the background and all you see is our eyes.
We told Matt and Jesus to head up to the front too. They got a pic of themselves...
We thought we would try and recreate the boys pic.
The night ended with some fireworks and a long walk back to the car. Oh yeah anda cover of the song 867-5309 which you can check out on this blog.

Flashback Friday

This is dedicated to my cousin Stacey because her birthday was yesterday. I won't disclose her age, but I do give her props for not having to color her hair yet. She's so lucky!

Donovan--obviously you were on your mission in the last picture because I am wearing your Levi coat and your Lake Powell sweatshirt. Hee! Hee!

Meg's first day of Preschool

I had my camera on some funky setting so the pics are blurry. Oh well.

Quotes from Meg
"Can I go back? I love it!"
"We had cookies and little brown things. I didn't like those so I threw them away." (raisins)

Oh Mandy!

My neighbor Ashlee scored some tickets to the one and only Barry Manilow. I have to admit that I LoVe him. Mabye it's because my mom used to have his records and my brother and I would jam out to him when we were little. Maybe it's because of his smooth voice or big nose. I don't know, but I was way excited. So here we are at the Las Vegas Hilton Manilow store checking out the merchandise before the show. Who wouldn't want a Barry pillowcase for only $14?

When we got into the theater we realized that we were probably the youngest there. That's not hard for Ashlee since she is in her early 20's, but me...I haven't been the youngest for awhile. So here we are trying to get a pic of the walkers, canes and scooters of the ladies behind us.
Here's another of our fellow Manilow loving fans.
And here is Barry in the yellow jacket singing the Copacabana. Needless to say, all those who were able to stand were standing during this song. Even the two older gentlemen next to us stood up for this one. The only disturbing part of the concert was the "pelvic thrust" done by Barry and the old ladies going crazy. A little PG-13 if you ask me. There was a lady there with a Barry tatoo also. All in all it was a Fabulous night and I really can't wait to go back again with some of my other Barry fans.
Here is a short "illegal" clip of Barry.

Matt's family visits

Matt's parents and sister and brother in law came down last week to visit. They brought thier dogs too. The kids loved playing with the dogs. We went to Red Robin and got some Strawberry Lemonade--which is a favorite of the kids. Here is Matt's dad with the girls.

Matt's mom really believes the saying "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". But it's not true!

Here I am looking snappy from the '60's. Do you think I look like my mom?

Just a Funny

I thought I should post something this week so here goes. My sister in law called me the other day to ask me what Jazz Band was because my nephew was going to be playing in it. While I was talking to her about it my nephew says this "Who are you talking to?"
Janae (SIL) says "Kristen, about Jazz band".
Nephew says this "why are you talking to her about it?"
Janae "Because she plays the flute".
Nephew "How would she know about it, they didn't have Jazz band back then"

It's official. I am old--at least in the eyes of middle school kids.
