Temple Open House

Last Friday we went up to the Oquirrah Temple Open House. You know how as a mother you think, "wow this is going to be so special for them" and the kids say "why do we have to go". It still was great and beautiful and I think the kids enjoyed themselves. There were some great cookies at the end with tons of chocolate chips...makes it worth it to kids.

Don't you love the pink crocs Meg is wearing? Umm...I don't but didn't feel like arguing over it!

Love him....and I'm sad

Michael...it don't matter if your black or white...because we are the world, we are the children and we are the ones to make a brighter day so let's start giving.

Ha....I had this poster in my room in 3rd grade and my mom thought it was a little "inappropriate" to have hanging since he was black. But his vest matched my room so I loved it. And really, what would the Classic Rollerskating without Thriller playing? Good times MJ!

Vegas!

The girls have been wanting go go down to Vegas and visit their friends for awhile. We decided to head down there for a few days and see some friends. Unfortunately some of their friends are still in school so they got to spend time with them, but not as much as we would have liked. The girls were in HeAvEn! They were so excited to see their friends, the old neighborhood, shopping carts in the street (yes, they actually missed that about Vegas).

Here they are with the Faulkner girls. They were able to have a late-over with them too. Fun girl times.

We went swimming to our friend Diin's house. We took our old neighbors who happened to be out of school. Super fun...a little bit of sun too!

After school on Thursday several families and friends met over at the Broderick's house and the kids played outside.

On Thursday we got to go over to Alexis' house and swim. Great times!

We wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks to all our great friends for hosting us, letting us eat your food and staying at your house.
This trip was actually a difficult one for me. I felt like I was home with all my friends. I try not to get bitter, but when I am down there in my old life and watch my kids so happy to be around their friends it's just hard. I start to get angry that someones choices can impact my life so much. I am so thankful for my Vegas Family and the impact all of you have had in my life. Love you guys!

Flashback Friday

Since Emily was in town last weekend and I happened to find this little gem (and I don't have many old pictures out, they are all in storage) I thought I'd show these little cuties!

Run for it!

One of my proudest moments as a mom happened on Saturday night. We went to the REAL soccer game (the professional soccer team in Salt Lake). We scored some free tickets from some awesome friends (thanks Cannata's). They were super great front row tickets. We went with our friends the Krauses (major soccer lovers) and had a ton of fun.

After the game there was a mini-concert from David Archuleta. Now, the Krauses don't watch TV so they didn't know who he was, but we American Idol lovers were pretty excited to see him. They started setting up the stage on half field and then the security guys started walking out to make sure there were no "jumpers/runners" to the field. Some people had special writstbands and got to go on. Emily and Mattison were trying to talk the security guy by us to let them sneak on out since we were right there. Of course he said "no". But, part way through the concert those cute girls jumped the wall and took off running past security and made it all the way across the field up to the 2nd row of the stage. It was so cool! We were cheering and yelling as were several rows of people behind us. They started a little trend and some other girls tried jumping. Then security got a little tighter. The funny thing is after the girls made it that far, they came running back a little later. Of course we were like "don't come back!". They felt bad because Isabel didn't come. Isabel still didn't want to go and then they thought...we'll head back again. So of course another security guy stopped them, but Emily sweet talked her way right back to the stage. FREAKING AWESOME!

Is it bad...

Some good times with Vegas friends

Since summer has started ( I know it's only been 3 days) my kids have been bored. You see, while in Vegas we had people around all the time. Kids playing over, piano lesson kids in and out and the neighborhood kids were always at our house. Since moving to Utah my kids have been in withdrawls without friends around. The street we live on is mostly still the neighbors that were here when I was here...a little older crowd. However, there are some streets that have kids. So, I called one of the moms and asked if my kids could play. They were able to go over there yesterday. Literally, yelling at me about having to go over. They did have fun though. At night the kids on that street go out and play "Night Games". I told my kids (only Isabel and Mattison) to ride their scooters around the corner and they would find kids outside. Of course my kids protested. So I told them they had to or else they had to go to bed. When they left I yelled out "and you better not come back for at least an hour or until it is really dark!" Does that make me a bad mom?

Here is the funny thing....they came back awhile later all smiles. I asked if they had fun and they said they didn't even go over there. They went to the park instead. Tonight I told them I was taking them over to play "Night Games". I'll probably be dragging them by their hair, but we will make it there.
